The FIRE Summit in Kericho will address several key energy-related and environmental issues relevant to the county. The focus will be on sustainable energy practices, especially in light of Kericho’s dependency on firewood and charcoal for household energy, which contributes to deforestation and indoor air pollution. Additionally, the summit will tackle the impact of climate change on local agriculture, particularly tea farming, which is central to Kericho’s economy. Strategies for energy efficiency and transitioning to renewable energy sources will be central themes.
