Planeteer Alliance teams up with Project Learning Garden at Oakley Elementary in ATL

By our powers combined!

Planeteer Alliance and Project Learning Garden joined forces on Friday, May 20 at a local elementary school in Atlanta, GA. We joined the takeover of Oakley Elementary by Plantlanta State University, a program that works within underserved elementary, middle, and high schools to teach students how to live more sustainably through experiences.

Robin and Ashley from Captain Planet Foundation worked together on a program that taught the students about the different parts of plants. With a scavenger hunt, diagrams, and some real life examples, we used hands on learning to help the students learn about plant parts. Then, to get even more hands on, we had a taste test! By bringing in foods like celery (stems), carrots (roots), cherries (fruits) and more, we let the learning come to life for the students of Oakley Elementary! Check out the Recap video!
